I realize its a blog about trade show display rental but I had to take a few minutes and put on a sketch or two that I have drawn with pencil from a photo! One of my passion’s in life is Stevie Ray Vaughan, no matter where I find myself, if a song by him hits the airwaves or winds up in shuffle on the ipod, it makes me smile. I have auctioned off alot of my work for charity and Stevie Ray Vaughan always draws in some cash.
In a previous post, I asked the rock trivia question about Ol’ White, Stevie Ray’s Guitar, this is a picture of him with Ol’ White.
I have done several pencil sketches from photo’s as well for a variety of people for gifts. Please feel free to contact me.

Today would have been the celebration of his 53rd Birthday!
Some of my most favorite Stevie songs are:
Close to You
Hug You, Squeeze You
THE entire In Sessions with Albert King - ROCKS!
Feel free to add some of your favorites - and crank up the volume - look up to the sky - and know his spirit still soars with every riff!

Its been 17 years to the day, many still miss him, but his music and his legend lives on. This is an original sketch from charcoal on an old antique window from a farmhouse that was torn down somewhere in South Elgin! Leaving us with his music, he gave us a gift. “The candle that burns twice as bright, burns half as long.” From one of his favorite movies.. can anyone guess?
I remember where I was when I heard the news, I can’t imagine the feeling of those that were close to this powerful, enchanting musician. Stevie lived for his music, that is clear through each and every song he laid down!
Favorite songs of mine that don’t get enough air play are: Hug you, Squeeze You and Close to You, Stevies vocals on Close to You make you feel as if he was talking to you! Hug You Squeeze You has such emotion in it, when you watch the video, you can see his passion rising from deep with in the depths of his soul, and they climb high out of his physical body and encompass the masses!
Update - 11/13.07 - Is it a blogging success story? I think so, I could not figure out why I was getting so many hits on the blog for Stevie Ray Vaughan, oh, yeah, I knew I had pictures of him on there that I had drawn and/or painted. I had done a search for Stevie Ray Vaughan on google, well thousands upon thousands of pages, no doubt he is a guitar legend and a gentle soul that we lost to soon. Well, low and behold, my little old charcoal drawing has ended up on page 3 of the google image search. I belive that to be quite an accomplishment with over 95,000 pictures that come up in the search.
It just shows that if you keep it up, you will come up !

Kevin was doing back flips in his tank, which the water is getting murky and needs to be changed soon, but he loved reading the newmradio blog, and the trivia questions! He called my husband last night, yeah-thanks Kevin for waking me up, and he asked him for some obscure trivia.. here one of the questions he came up with?
Name the band that Elton John & Rod Stewart were in together?
